NOVA MSC TEAMS UP WITH BRUNEI’S ROYAL

Sealing the Deal with a Handshake – Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Wadood Bolkiah and Steven Chan

BRUNEI, 13 February 2009 – Nova MSC Berhad and Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Wadood Bolkiah yesterday signed an agreement to set up a joint venture company to be called Nova (B) Sdn Bhd.

The initial paid-up capital of the joint-venture company will be B$30,000 divided into 30,000 ordinary shares of B$1.00 each. Pengiran Anak will hold 60% of Nova (B) while Nova MSC will hold the 40% balance.

The main focus of Nova(B) is to market and deliver practical Information Technology solutions and services in Brunei Darussalam.

Nova MSC will be the leading implementation partner for Nova (B) for any IT-related businesses and will provide pre-sales, project implementation and second level technical maintenance support.

The joint-venture agreement was signed in Brunei yesterday by Pengiran Anak while Nova MSC was represented by Chief Executive Officer Steven Chan.

“We are excited about the prospects of Nova (B) especially with the recent announcement of the Brunei’s National Development Plan which stated an intention to spend about B$1 billion on e-government in the next few years,” said Pengiran Anak

He added that Nova MSC has a suite of proven e-government and healthcare application software with implementations in various ASEAN countries like Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia and has the expertise, knowledge and experience in providing solutions, support, consultancy and other services to the public sector and healthcare industry.

“It is because of this that I have decided to formalise the Memorandum of Understanding signed with Nova MSC last year to set up this joint-venture company,” he said.

Prior to the setting up of the joint-venture company, Nova MSC had already secured a multi-million dollar project, the Sistem Pengangkutan Darat (SPD system), from the Land Transport Department (LTD) of the Ministry of Communication, Brunei Darussalam. The SPD system is already rolled-out for use in LTD’s Headquarters and some regional offices. SPD is presently in its final stage of planning for a formal launch.

“Leveraging on the latest Information Technology, the SPD system for the Land Transport Department is a typical example of an end-to-end e-Government solution Nova will deliver. SPD will revitalize the Land Transportation Industry, bringing automation to processes like vehicle registration, driving license issuance, road tax licensing, change of vehicle details, etc. It is precisely such solutions that we need to introduce to Brunei to ensure we gain quantum leap in service-improvements and overall productivity,” said Steven Chan.
