EYRIS CONGRATULATES FOUNDER ON APPOINTMENT TO NEJM AI EDITORIAL BOARD

Jan 2024 – EyRIS extends our heartiest congratulations to our founder Prof. Tien Yin Wong for his recent appointment to the NEJM AI Editorial Board. NEJM AI, a new monthly journal from NEJM Group, is the first publication to engage both clinical and technology innovators in applying the rigorous research and publishing standards of the New England Journal of Medicine to evaluate the promises and pitfalls of clinical applications of AI. It leads the way in establishing a stronger evidence base for clinical AI while facilitating dialogue among all parties with a stake in these emerging technologies.

Prof Wong is a highly-respected academic physician-scientist-innovator, currently Vice Provost at Tsinghua University and Founding Head of Tsinghua Medicine, Beijing, China. Over the past two decades, Prof. Wong has served in multiple academic and leadership positions in Singapore and Australia. Prof. Wong is a practicing ophthalmologist and retinal specialist, with a broad research portfolio on retinal diseases (e.g., diabetic retinopathy), ocular imaging, and the development and application of a range of digital technology including AI and #deeplearning. He has published >1,500 peer-reviewed papers and is a highly cited researcher (2018, 2020, 2021, 2022).

He received Singapore’s  National Clinician Scientist Award, the President’s Science Award in 2010 and the President’s Technology Award in 2014. Prof Wong is also an elected international (foreign) member of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine and the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences.
