EYRIS PARTNERSHIP IN BANGLADESH

Dec 2021 – In the decade before COVID, Bangladesh was lauded for being among the fastest growing economies in the world. The country has a population exceeding 163 million people but remarkably, less than 1,300 ophthalmologists to deliver eye care to its vast population. In total, a staggering 750,000 adults and 48,000 children are blind, and it is estimated that 2.5 million people are at risk for developing diabetic retinopathy (DR), a leading cause of blindness.

EyRIS is delighted to announce our latest partnership with Infosystem Development Ltd to introduce SELENA+ to Bangladesh. With SELENA+ detecting DR, glaucoma suspect and age-related macular degeneration concurrently from fundus images, the deep learning system will not only help to accelerate the screening throughput but will ultimately identify those who most need clinical intervention urgently.

With the speed and accuracy provided by assistive technology, ISDL and EyRIS seeks make it easier for care givers to detect of eye diseases within population at risk and significantly lower preventable blindness.
